-The North Community Library of La Crosse is located on 1552 Kane Street on La Crosse's north side. The current building opened in 1942, and was remodeled in 1992. This beautifully constructed library is recognized as a historic building by the city of La Crosse and features a fireplace on the main floor and two free public meeting rooms on the lower level.

-The purpose and goal
of this website is to educate the local community on the
wheelchair accessibility of the North Community Public Library
of La Crosse, Wisconsin. This site was also designed to be
used as a disability resource providing links to related sites
on the web.

-Accessibility Highlights:
-The wheelchair accessible parking spot is curbside by the front entrance, which is the only entrance that is wheelchair accessible
-Interior to the front entrance is a manual wheelchair and four-wheeled walker available for public use
-One of the card catalog computers is designated for handicapped individuals and meets all ADA regulations for use
-Due to the North Community Library being designated a historic building by the City of La Crosse, it is exempt from some structural renovations required by the ADA*. For instance, the basement public meeting rooms have no elevator access, and therefore are not wheelchair accessible. But because putting in an elevator would take away from the historic essence of the building, it has not been done.
