Welcome to the internet home of the Screaming Eagles Marching Band!
It is with great pleasure and excitement that we are gearing up for our 2009 season. Whether you are a new member or returning member this season will be packed full of excitement. The band is continuing to grow each year because of your continued dedication, inspiration and motivation. As the new director of the Screaming Eagles Marching Band (SEMB) I can assure you that the excellence that has been established through the years of quality and tradition are not going to go unnoticed.
You are about to embark on a journey that includes energizing the spectators of our brand new state of the art football stadium, captivating the audiences filled with future SEMB members at our regional exhibition performances and of course tearing up the pavement as we march down the street during parades.
Membership to the Screaming Eagles Marching Band is open to all University of Wisconsin Lacrosse, Viterbo University, and Western Technical College students regardless of major area of academic focus.
The repertoire this year will have several highlights, most exciting of which is our Michael Jackson and Queen shows. We will begin the season with a series of triumphant fanfares that will incorporate narration about our prestigious and distinctive institution, the University of Wisconsin La Crosse. In between two recognizable fanfares we will perform a musical selection made famous by Kool and the Gang, “Celebration”. As will be evident by our song selection, we will begin the season with some flare and a celebration of our camaraderie, friendship, and musicality as well as the great SEMB spirit that observers have grown to expect.
If you are an instrumentalist and need an instrument, you should contact me ASAP so that I can be sure we have enough instruments on hand for the start of camp. We have a fairly good supply of instruments available for use. The colorguard and pom-pom squads have newer uniforms and all equipment necessary (except shoes).
On the following pages, you should find information that will hopefully answer any questions you have regarding the dorm check-in process as well as a “tentative” schedule of events for band camp.
