Internships
Information Systems majors can complete IS-451 (CBA Management Information Systems Internship) for credit towards the IS major. IS-451 satisfies the elective credit requirement in the IS major.
In order to earn credit for IS-451, students must satisfy all of the following prerequisite requirements: cumulative GPA of at least 2.50; ACC 221, ACC 222; BLAW 205; ECO 110, ECO 120, ECO 230; FIN 355; IS 220; MGT 308; MKT 309 and admission to the College of Business.
Students who do not meet these prerequisites can still complete an internship for credit by completing IS-250. However, please note that IS-250 does not count towards the IS major. IS-250 credits count towards the general education requirements at UWL.
How do Students Find an Internship?
Students are expected to find an internship on their own. Available internships are listed on the Handshake service at UWL. For an up-to-date listing, please visit:

The IS department will send out and post internships as they are received from employers.
How do Students Enroll in IS-451 or IS-250?
- The student will find and get hired in an information systems related internship.
- The student will contact an IS faculty member about serving as a mentor for the internship. Faculty will then discuss the internship paper requirements with the student.
- The student interested in enrolling in IS-451 or IS-250 must contact Career Services @ advising@uwlax.edu to set up paperwork for course enrollment and completion of the internship requirements.
