Suspension of admission to the programs
The Exercise and Sport Science department is not currently accepting applications to its Master of Science in Exercise and Sport Science - Human Performance graduate program.
Please contact the Graduate Program Director for more information regarding the program.
PURPOSE: The internship experience is a very important aspect of the Human Performance program. Graduate students with the Strength & Conditioning emphasis are required to do an internship with an experienced Strength & Conditioning mentor as their capstone experience. Applied Sports Science graduate students also have this opportunity. All internships must be approved by the Program Director. Internships provide students with an extensive, supervised, first-hand exposure to working with people in an applied setting. The internship experience is a culminating experience - an opportunity to apply knowledge and skill obtained through course work and other experiences.
REQUIREMENTS: The minimum time requirement for each 3 credit hour internship is 200 hours. Very few Strength & Conditioning internship sites will accept students for less than one semester, however the actual time commitment may be negotiated with the internship site. Most internships are unpaid, however, living expenses at the internship site are the responsibility of the student. To be eligible for ESS 789 Human Performance Internship, students must have completed all required courses, earned an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher in all graduate work, and received approval from the Human Performance Program Director.
