UW-L Recycling Data

Most people think UW-L recycling is limited to paper, cardboard, and comingled recyclables (plastics #1-#7, glass, aluminum, and bi-metal cans).  However, we also recycle a lot of other items.  A partial list of these items include:Recycling in action

  • Wood Pallets
  • Appliances (e.g.,  refrigerators, microwaves, stoves, etc.)
  • Electronic Scrap (e.g., computers, monitors, peripherals, etc.)
  • Fluorescent and other Light Bulbs
  • Fluorescent Light Ballasts
  • Tree Stumps
  • Landscaping Brush
  • Oil (lubricating)
  • Antifreeze (automotive)
  • Compost
  • Batteries (automotive and other rechargeable)
  • High BTU Solvents

The following chart provides a visual representation of waste and recyclables collected from UW-L's blue (comingled) dumpsters, while (paper/cardboard) dumpsters and green (waste to Xcel Energy) dumpsters.  These white, blue and green dumpsters comprise the vast majority of UW-L's waste and recycling volume.  If you are a numbers person, see our Year End Summary.
