Laura Schaffer, Health Professions, presented "Daily Living and Adaptive Equipment" at APDA 2023 Upper Midwest Conference on Nov. 4 in La Crosse, WI. Laura used her extensive knowledge on treatment of people with Parkinson's Disease to give contemporary options for adaptive equipment to improve quality of life and extend independence while living with a chronic neurological disease.

Vannatta and Callie Pohlman, all Physical Therapy; and Thomas Kernozek and Drew Rutherford, both Health Professions; co-authored the article "Effects of Body Weight Support in Running on Achilles Tendon Loading" in International Journal of Sports Medicine published on July 19 by Thieme. C.N. Vannatta is a physical therapist and collaborator with Gundersen Sports Medicine. He is supported by a grant through the Gundersen Medical Foundation to work in LIMS.

Austin Beck and Mary Slagle

Austin Beck and Mary Slagle, both Health Professions students, received the award for SkinCure Oncology Radiation Therapy Scholarship from American Society of Radiologic Technologists . This national scholarship, in the amount of $5000, was given to students entering the field of radiation therapy. Grade point average, healthcare experience and financial need were considered in the awarding of the scholarships.

Occupational Therapy (MSOT): approx. 25 students graduating December 2024

UWL PT Student Professional Student Development Fund
The fund is used to support students to attend professional conferences, present research at meetings, offset costs for special educational experiences, and provide other resources for their professional development. Your participation in this event makes these opportunities possible!

Occupational Therapy Student Scholarship Fund
This fund supports several scholarships that are awarded to students prior to internships to help defray the extra costs associated with travel and moving for internships.

Students are invited to practice their interviewing skills and seek advice from employers during practice interviews.  Please indicate your desire to participate in this activity by checking the box on the registration form.
