Recruiting Operations Officer

Major Jay Hansen

MAJ Jay A. Hansen was born in Oakes , North Dakota on 1 May 1969. He graduated from Oakes High School and enlisted in the Army in 1987. He attended One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Benning , Ga , and was assigned as a Mortar Infantryman (Military Occupation Skill 11C). He served with 75th Ranger Regiment and 501 st Regiment (Airborne). While enlisted, MAJ Hansen graduated from University of Anchorage, Alaska with an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts. He attended and graduated Officer Candidate School in 1996. Upon receiving his commission as an Infantry Second Lieutenant, MAJ Hansen was assigned to the 101 st Airborne Division (Air Assault). Prior to his selection for Captain in 2000, he graduated from Austin Peay State University with a B.S. in Public Management. His military schooling includes Primary Leadership Development Course (PLDC), Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course (BNOC), Officer Candidate School (OCS), Infantry Officer Basic Course (IOBC), Armor Captain Career Course (ACCC), and Combined Arms Services and Staff School (CAS3).

MAJ Hansen has served in numerous duty positions throughout his career. While enlisted, he served as an Infantry Mortar Ammo Bearer, Assistant Gunner, Gunner, Fire Direction Chief (FDC), Section Leader, and Platoon Sergeant during his tenures with 1 st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment at Hunter Army Airfield, Savannah , Ga , and 1st Battalion, 501st Infantry Regiment (Airborne) at Fort Richardson, Ak . While commissioned, he served as an Infantry Platoon Leader and Recon Platoon Leader with the 1 st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment at Fort Campbell, Ky. As a staff officer, he served as the Brigade Logistics Officer (S4), and Assistant Training Officer (AS3) with the Ranger Training Brigade at Fort Benning, Ga. As a company commander with 1st Battalion, 11th Infantry Regiment, MAJ Hansen served as Bravo Company, Infantry Captain Career Course (ICCC) Commander and most recently as the Headquarters Company Commander for the Basic Officer Leadership Course II (BOLC II) and United States Army Combatives School (USACS).

MAJ Hansen's military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Good Conduct Award, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal with Arrowhead, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Multi-National Force and Observers Medal, Expert Infantryman Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Air Assault Badge, Ranger Tab, British Parachutist Badge, Jordanian Parachutist Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge, and Master Parachutist Badge with Bronze Star.

MAJ Hansen is married to the former Miss Donna Davis and they have four children. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, and military art collecting.
