Agate Basin This heat-treated point looks like an Agate Basin point of the Late Paleoindian time period. It does not exhibit basal grinding, but it exhibits beveling which is usually characteristic of the Archaic time period. Therefore the point is assumed to date to the Late Paleoindian/Early Archaic time period. The dimensions of the point are approximately 2.5 inches in length x 1 inch in width x 1/3 of an inch in thickness (thickest portion of point). This isolated find was recovered in the early 2000s in northeastern Iowa.
