Pipe – Copper Tubing

Pipe – Copper Tubing Smoking pipes are often one of the most numerous artifacts found on historic sites. This repaired bowl fragment was recovered during the 2006 excavations of an early 1830s-1840s privy in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.  Copper tubing was used to fashion a makeshift bowl. The person who owned this pipe might not have been able to afford to buy a new one, or perhaps made the new “pipe” out of ingenuity.
