Prairie du Chien – Historic Photos

Historic photo and foundation picture Historic photos can help with historic archaeological research. This historic photo shows the remnants of a stable/harness shop (left) and a hotel (right) that burned in 1873 in Prairie du Chien, WI. MVAC found intact remnants of the hotel’s foundation under 4 feet of fill. Only a portion of the foundation was exposed, but more might remain beneath Main Street.
