Roche-A-Cri State Park – Rock Art

Roche-A-Cri rock art Roche-A-Cri State Park contains the only rock art site in Wisconsin that is open to the public. The rock art consists of a large panel of petroglyphs (carvings) and pictographs (painting) located at the base of a 300 foot rock outcrop. The panel contains geometric designs, crescents, thunderbirds, and human figures. Considerable historic graffiti is also present. The site was vandalized with spray-paint in the early 2000s. Restoration efforts helped to fade the graffiti but could not completely remove the vandalism. Link for information about visiting Roche-A-Cri State Park, located in central Wisconsin.
