Entrance Counseling

Important Information

Before receiving a federal student loan, borrowers MUST complete an Entrance Counseling session. (If students have previously had either a Federal Stafford Loan or a Federal Direct Loan, students have already met this obligation. However, if students are applying for their first Direct Graduate PLUS Loan, they will need to complete this session.). This online session will take about 30 minutes to complete.

Undergraduate students will select the option to complete the Entrance Counseling as an undergraduate student.

Graduate students will select the option to complete the Entrance Counseling as a graduate student; graduate students who complete the Graduate Entrance Loan Counseling will meet the entrance loan counseling requirement for both Direct Loans and Direct Graduate PLUS loans.

Students should have their FSA ID (the user-selected username and password) readily available.

Go to studentaid.gov and click on Log In in the upper-right hand corner. Once logged in, please click on Complete Aid Process and click on Complete Entrance Counseling; follow directions from there.

Once the student has completed the entire process, be sure to choose "Show Form for Printing" and print a copy of the form.
