Sharing the Information

Archaeologists have a responsibility to publish the results of their work to ensure that the information is available for others to use. The results of archaeological analysis are often presented in technical site reports, conference papers, journal articles, popular articles, and books. The information about the artifacts and their context can then be used by other researchers. Through the efforts of many people working together, a bigger and more complete picture of the archaeological past can be developed.

This issue of the Wisconsin Archeologist presented the results of excavations at a site in La Crosse. The Corps of Engineers subsidized the publication as part of their obligation to share the results of their work with the public.
