Foundation Philanthropy Fellowships
Foundation Philanthropy Fellowship applications open January 29, 2024.
Two $12,000 fellowships will be awarded to students who are chosen for these one-year experiences beginning before June 1, 2024. The fellowships will be with the UWL Alumni & Friends Foundation.
These fellowships can be thought of as closely mentored internships that provide hands-on experience with potential to take on independent projects. The Fellowships are intended to provide experiential learning opportunities for students from any field of study. They offer full-time summer employment (approx. 30-35 hours per week) and part-time employment during the fall and spring semesters (approx. 10 hours per week).They have been funded by:
- Ron Rada of La Crosse, WI, UWL professor emeritus, and his wife Jane
- Mike McGinley of Fort Collins, CO, UWL '82 alumnus and UWL Foundation officer, and his wife Kathi
The application window runs from Monday, January 29 through Sunday, March 3, 2024. Applicants will be notified if they've been selected for a fellowship by Monday, April 1, 2024.
Application process
To apply for a fellowship, interested students must meet these criteria:
- Have a graduation date of May 2025 through May 2026 (graduate students may apply)
- Declare a major in a related field of study
- Agree to a one-year commitment with a flexible start date between May 13 and June 1, 2024
- Agree to participate in the annual UWL Academic Advising Center & Career Services Internship Showcase or other approved public forum.
