Inclusive STEM Classroom, One Step at a Time

CATL is announcing a workshop Inclusive STEM Classroom, One Step at a Time, specifically for STEM instructors, to discuss small action steps we can take toward more inclusive classroom and lab experiences at UWL. As part of this workshop, you will watch clips from videos of students discussing inequity and racial bias in STEM classrooms (about 1 hour of time spent on your own), then participate in a live (virtual) session to discuss strategies for including one STEM-related social justice issue or example in one of your classes. The live session is scheduled for Friday, September 25 (4-5 pm) via Collaborate Ultra. We are planning this session for early in the semester (and during a time when we expect most folks will not be in class) and this would allow you some extra flexibility to consider adding this topic to your course content this semester. We know many of you have this topic in mind in light of what has happened around the country in the past months, and we want to give you a tangible take-away for starting these conversations with your students and incorporating them into your STEM content. We hope you will join us!

To indicate your interest in this event, please self-enroll in the Canvas course which includes the pre-workshop module. Please note that the course is not published yet. You will receive an email from the workshop facilitators when the course is published and ready for you to engage with the pre-workshop materials.
