CATL Winter Workshop Series

The CATL Winter (Virtual) Conference, Tuesday 1/19 through Friday 1/22, invites instructors to prepare for your Spring 2021 classes with a series of workshops, panels, and consultations. Check out the WEDNESDAY schedule below to see what topics will help you enhance student learning in spring 2021. To register and see schedules for all days, check out our website: https://www.uwlax.edu/catl/events/winter/

10:00 - 11:00 AM
Workshop: Fighting
“Zoom” Fatigue
This workshop will discuss ways to engage students that help break up some of the fatigue we all face in an online setting. We will focus on strategies that don’t take a lot of time and don’t increase your grading workload, but do create an impact in your classroom.

11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Workshop: Difficult Conversations
This workshop will share some strategies for introducing difficult topics in your classroom, for encouraging positive, respectful and healthy classroom participation regardless of the topic, and for holding difficult discussions in an online environment.

1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Panel Discussion: Supporting Students
In this panel we’ll center the specific challenges facing our students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants will hear from students, representatives from Counseling and Testing, Student Life, and the faculty.

2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Collaborate or Consult
Collaborate with a colleague about ways to engage and support students, and/or stop in (virtually) for a CATL consultation to discuss this or any teaching topic.
