What's New Wednesdays
Enduring Families Project
Are you a history buff or would you like to learn more about La Crosse, WI?! We have the perfect event for you!
We are partnering with the Enduring Families Project for our next What's New Wednesdays! The Enduring Families Project has the mission to substantially broaden the local historical narrative by the positive portrayal of the contributions, struggles, and perseverance of early non-white settlers providing a venue for the development of understanding and respect between people in our community and a further springboard for community conversations. The Enduring Families Project is fiscally sponsored by the La Crosse County Historical Society.
During our time together we will watch the stories of Lydia Moss, Birletta Waldon, and Lilian Davenport. As we get to learn more about these incredible women we will start their journeys in La Crosse; Birletta as a dress shop owner, Lydia as a barbershop owner, and Lilian as a teacher. All three women had a significant impact on the La Crosse community before continuing with impactful careers throughout the country. Attendees to What's New Wednesdays will have the opportunity to hear directly from the Producer/Actor, Denise Christy-Moss and the performers of Lydia Moss and Birletta Waldon.
