UWL Concert Choir and Treble Chorus

Luminescence

La Crosse, Wis. – The UW-La Crosse Treble Chorus and Concert Choir join together for their first concerts of the new academic year. Titled “Luminescence,” the choirs bring an evening of uplifting music with light as the focal imagery of the concert. The performance is at the Cappella Performing Arts Center on Saturday, October 26 at 7:30 p.m.

The Treble Chorus, directed by Dr. Kourtney Austin, performs first. Some of works to be performed include “Northern Lights” and “Yo Soy Luz” (I Am Light.)

“Luminescence offers music and texts of hope and light,” says Austin. “We are excited to explore these uplifting pieces and share them with our audience.” She shares the words of writer Jan Richardson: “Perhaps our eyes will finally open in ancient recognition, willingly dazzled, illuminated at last.”

The Concert Choir is directed by Dr. Christopher Hathaway and follows the Treble Chorus. With the added lower tenor and bass voices in this ensemble, this choir offers a different perspective in the aural experience.

In discussing the planning and theme for Saturday’s performance, Hathaway notes envisioning “light representing positivity for a better tomorrow.” UWL’s vocal ensembles invite all to bask in the beauty of light with the music of “Luminescence.”

Both concerts are free and open to the public, no advance reservations required. Visit www.uwlax.edu/vpa for more information.
