Call for Proposals "Table Talks"

CATL is proud to host the third annual Artificial Intelligence (AI) Summit. We cordially invite instructors, staff, administrators, and students to join us to discuss the role of AI at UWL. This is an opportunity to share what you’re doing and thinking about AI, and to learn with and from others. We’ll be rolling out a new format for our presentation sessions in 2026! This year, we’re asking colleagues who would like to participate in the AI Summit to propose topics for “table talks.”  

Here’s how it works: When your topic is accepted, you will be assigned a table (possibly alongside colleagues discussing similar topics) where you will engage in three twenty-minute conversations with rotating groups of attendees. This conversational (rather than presentational) format will accommodate the maximum number of participants and ensure broad engagement. In other words, you’ll be able to have as many interesting conversations as possible with as many interested people as possible over the course of an hour. This will be an informal, discussion-based delivery method with no slideshows or posters, but participants are welcome to bring informational handouts about their topic to help facilitate discussion. 

Table talk topics may include: 

  • Integrating AI into curriculum and pedagogy 
  • Assessing impacts of AI on student learning 
  • Defining AI-related career competencies 
  • Articulating AI policies and guidelines 
  • Addressing ethical dilemmas related to AI 
  • Scaffolding student uses of AI 
  • Evaluating capabilities and limitations of AI 
  • Examining AI’s influence on research, scholarship, and workload 

To propose a table talk session, please provide a 100-word description of what you would like to discuss (upon acceptance, this description will be included in the AI Summit program).
