Fall 2026 ISEP Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) Academy

Applications are now open for the Fall 2026 ISEP COIL Academy! This exclusive opportunity is complimentary for faculty within the ISEP Community and is designed to enhance global learning through Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) and virtual exchange methodologies.

About the ISEP COIL Academy

The ISEP COIL Academy provides structured mentoring and best practices led by COIL and virtual exchange expert, Brenda Garcia Portillo, a seasoned international educator with 24+ years of experience. As a participant, you’ll be matched with an ISEP international faculty partner and mentored through the process of co-designing a COIL course together. 

What to Expect

  • Interactive Training: Live sessions over 8 weeks, led by expert COIL trainer, Brenda Garcia Portillo.
  • Hands-On Guidance: Individualized mentorship to help you design and implement a cross-cultural course.
  • Global Collaboration: Join a small cohort of faculty fellows from across the ISEP Community to create meaningful international connections.
  • Certificate of Completion: Receive an ISEP COIL Academy training certificate upon successfully completing the program.

Important Dates

  • The Fall 2026 Academy will begin the week of October 5, 2026, and run for 8 weeks.
  • Academy applications are due to ISEP by Monday, September 14, 2026.
  • Faculty Fellows will be informed of their acceptance into the Academy by Friday, September 25, 2026.

For this Academy, we ask that you include a short statement (approximately one paragraph) describing how your participation in the COIL Academy advances a specific mission. Please choose ONE of the following options:
