Hada in Graduation Attire

Hear about Hada's time at UWL!

Hada just finished her last semester here at UWL and received a Bachelor's of Arts in Communication Studies with a  Organizational and Professional Communication Emphasis. Hear from her about her experience in earning her degree from La Crosse!

"Hi, I am Hada from Spain, and I graduated this December 2025 as a Communication Studies Major! I chose La Crosse because of its beautiful city and campus. I did an exchange year in High School, and I got placed with a host family in the east side of Wisconsin; after finishing my school year there, I went back home to Spain to finish High School and I decided I wanted to go back to Wisconsin to do my Higher Education.

Lifestyle is very different in the USA compared to Spain. It was hard to adjust but I learned to appreciate the differences down the road. In La Crosse I like to hang out with my best friends, go to coffee shops, the bluffs and restaurants. Throughout my bachelor’s degree, I have developed so many skills and I have learned many valuable lessons. Doing higher education in a second language has been a challenge that has helped me develop into the professional I am today.

A piece of advice is to always support your neighbor, you never know what someone is going through and for international students this support means everything. International students please put yourself out there, never be scared to talk to strangers, they might be your best friends one day!

During my time at UWL, a meaningful experience was completing undergraduate research for my major on how Spanish family members communicate through the shared mealtime experience and I presented it publicly as well. This meant a lot to be because of the hard work I put into it and that it was about my people and culture.Following this December Graduation, I will be working full time doing corporate marketing at Snap-On tools!

Go Eagles!"
