Welcome Home, Eagles!

By Shealyn McMahon

As we welcome new Eagles to campus this week, let's take a look back at campus history! Residence halls have long been central to the UWL student experience. These archival photos from the 1950s through the 1980s highlight the move-in experience, dorm life, and everyday routines that remain familiar to students today.

From decorating rooms to meeting roommates for the first time, the traditions of move-in have always marked the beginning of a new chapter at UWL. While fashion, furniture, and dorm rules may have changed, the excitement of settling in and creating a home on campus is a thread that connects generations of Eagles.

On behalf of the Murphy Library staff, welcome to campus! We are excited to support you as you begin your journey at UWL. Whether you need research assistance, help finding your next leisure read, or simply a place to sudy, Murphy Library is here for you.

All original photographs are part of the Special Collections and Area Research Center, located in Murphy Library. Learn more about Special Collections here.
