Headshot of Katherine Fish

Get to know E-Resources and Acquisitions Librarian, Katherine Fish

As Murphy Library's E-Resources and Acquisitions Librarian, Katherine manages our online resources (think databases and ebooks) and oversees our purchasing and licensing processes. With over 200 databases, hundreds of ebooks, and tens of thousands of e-journals, she has a lot to keep track of! You might also see her helping students with their research questions at the Reference Desk or teaching a library instruction session.

Keep on reading to learn more about her!

More about Katherine

Katherine kayaking on the Kickapoo River (got to love that alliteration). If you squint hard, you might recognize another one of our librarians in the background!

Where are you from?

Hopkins, MN

What's your favorite part of your job?

No two days look the same. I appreciate all the variety—it keeps things interesting, and I’m constantly learning and being challenged in new ways.

How long have you worked here?

5 years (!)

What do you do when not at work?

Reading, Netflix, lots of walks with my dog (and recently a bit of skijoring, too...if you define that term very loosely).

What have you read/viewed/listened to/etc. recently?

Read: "Somebody’s Daughter" by Ashley Ford; Listened to: Che Apalache; Viewed: The new season of "Sex Education"

What might surprise us about you?

I’ve recently gotten into Tarot cards. I occasionally write poetry. I once travelled across an ocean on a solo trip to attend a concert (and promptly lost my passport). I spent part of last summer living in an off-the-grid tiny house.

Favorites:
  • Movie - "The Before Trilogy"
  • TV Show - "Ted Lasso"
