Spring Break: E-resources you can take with you!

Spring on campus at UWL

E-Books, Audio Books, Films at your disposal during Spring Break!

Spring Break is coming up in a few days, and for those leaving campus, we just want to remind you that you still have access to our resources!

We asked Collection Development Librarian Pam Cipkowski what advice to give or tips to share with people with frequently asked off campus access. Here is what she has to share:

I get lots of emails from students and instructors who can’t access films from off campus. I always tell them, when you're asked/prompted for your NetID and password, it’s the same as you use for Canvas or UWL email. And they almost always email back that that was the problem!”

E-Resources Librarian Madan Mohan also shared this important tip on accessing electronic resources when off campus:

"Once they log in with their NetID and password and continue to experience access issues, I suggest clearing Cookies and Cache, closing all browsers, and trying to open the link again. If that doesn't work, they can open the link in Incognito or Private Window."

Wall Street Journal

Murphy Library, with the generous support of the College of Business Administration, has campus-wide access to the Digital Wall Street Journal.

Faculty, staff, and students can activate their complimentary WSJ membership by going to WSJ.com/uwlax and creating an account using their UWL email and creating a password.

For more information, visit our Wall Street Journal Guide.

New York Times

The library also provides access to the Digital New York Times in the form of an "Academic Pass."

To register, go to NYTimes.com/pass, enter your UWL email account and a password (do not use your UWL password), then check your UWL email for an activation link. Your account must be renewed yearly.

For more information, check out our New York Times Guide.

Murphy Library provides access to several streaming video resources. If you're looking for a movie to watch this weekend, try browsing some of the films on Kanopy, an on-demand streaming video platform for public and academic libraries.
