Today Mike Harding, ’89, left, and Christopher Fechner,’90, are using their land surveying skills to help make improvements to Bliss Road, the road up Grandad Bluff from Main Street in La Crosse. The road was reopened in November after being rebuilt from summer 2010 washouts.
Harding and Fechner have owned Coulee Region Land Surveyors since 1998. Here they are pictured before the repairs to Bliss Road were complete — marking the location of the proposed improvements such as a retaining wall, catch basins, curbs and center line.

[/caption]The top spot on the bluff will reopen this spring with a $1.17 million facelift, which includes restoring the 1930s shelter, a new walkway, a cantilevered overlook platform and a wheelchair accessible site, which has also been re-landscaped with native species. Reconstruction began in the spring.
