UW-L International Student Xinyue Zheng performed a court dance from the Tang Dynasty in front of a crowd reaching 300 people at the 49th International Banquet Friday, April 11, at Cartwright Center. UW-L’s international presence on campus will be getting more support in coming years, noted Jay Lokken, UW-L director of International Education. At the banquet, Lokken announced a new UW-L Foundation campaign to raise $100,000 to offer two new student scholarships — one for an international student and another for a study abroad student. In addition, OIE has an Ambassador’s Roundtable Fund, which helps defray expenses when the office sponsors guest speakers, delegations from partner universities and program providers as well as other visitors. Contributions to OIE scholarships and the ambassador roundtable can be made on the UW-L Foundation website by clicking on “Give Now” and identifying where the contribution will be directed.
