UW-La Crosse students and faculty will head to Eau Claire this week to attend the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR), which promotes scholarship across all disciplines by showcasing thousands of research presentations.

NCUR is the largest undergraduate research conference in the U.S. with more than 3,500 students from universities across the country attending. The event provides a unique experience where students can confer with each other regarding their research.

A total of 44 students are presenting at NCUR being held at UW-Eau Claire Thursday-Saturday, April 13-15. Other UWL students will attend to experience the national conference.

Professor Nicholas Bakken, UWL Student Research and Experiential Learning Coordinator, says UWL has long been a national leader in undergraduate research. He says this forum provides a distinct opportunity for students to showcase their research and creative works.

“We have 44 students presenting at NCUR, which is a testament to not only the hard work of students, but to the time and devotion faculty have spent mentoring their student researchers,” says Bakken. “NCUR provides a distinct opportunity for the personal and professional development of students, and also provides a forum in which their hard work can be celebrated.”

In addition to the students, nine UWL faculty are attending the conference.

Overall, 100 UW System students are attending the conference thanks to generous support and sponsorship of the UW System Office of Academic & Student Affairs.
