Journalist Soledad O’Brien will talk about her experience as a reporter and how it has shaped her perspective of America at a UW-La Crosse presentation. She will speak at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, in the Recreational Eagle Center.
O’Brien is an award-winning journalist, documentarian, news anchor and producer widely known for her documentary series “Black in America” and “Latino in America.”
Both series are among CNN’s most successful domestic and international franchises. In June 2013, she launched Starfish Media Group, a media production company dedicated to uncovering empowering stories that take a challenging look at often controversial issues of race, class, wealth, poverty and opportunity.
O’Brien joined Harvard University as a Distinguished Fellow and was appointed to the Board of Directors of the foundation for The National Archives in 2013.
O’Brien will discuss issues brought up in her new memoir, “The Next Big Story: My Journey Though the Land of Possibilities.” In the book, she remembers the most memorable moments as a reporter and how they have shaped her personally and professionally.
