Those who attended UWL know La Crosse was a great place to spend their college years.
But it’s also a great place to pursue a career and raise a family.
A new campaign from the La Crosse Area Chamber of Commerce encourages people to do exactly that. The goal, says Neal Zygarlicke, Chamber CEO, is to draw young professionals back to La Crosse by showing them everything the community has to offer.
“We want to put La Crosse back in the minds of alumni and people who maybe left the area. La Crosse has changed drastically in 10 years,” Zygarlicke explains. “There’s a good quality of life here. You have the beautiful river and bluffs — chances for recreation in all four seasons. You have wonderful healthcare and schools. You have all the amazing amenities you’d find in a large city, without all the hustle and bustle.”
As part of the campaign, the Chamber is connecting working professionals and La Crosse area businesses looking to hire. People can enter their information online to receive relevant job opportunities in the La Crosse area.
A few months into the program, Zygarlicke says dozens of people have applied to receive job opportunities. A handful have already found jobs and returned to La Crosse.
He expects many more as the program grows in the coming years.
“If people are choosing to live in La Crosse, then it shows that they’re taking great care in where they want to live and build a family,” Zygarlicke notes. “Having people like that, who are like-minded, is really important in creating a strong community.”
