Bioresearch forum set for Aug. 25 at Gundersen
Christopher Dockendorff, chemistry professor at Marquette University, is the keynote speaker presenting "Teaching Old Targets New Tricks: Novel Approaches to the Modulation of G-Protein Coupled Receptors and Ion Channels" at the La Crosse Bioresearch Forum. The presentation runs from 12:15-1 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 25, in the Overholt Auditorium, Gundersen Health System.
The free forums are open to the public and hosted by the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders and the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Foundation. Those attending should park in the Green ramp or use valet parking. Use the entrances at the north end and northeast side of the medical center.
U-PASS continues into 2015-16
Faculty and staff can ride La Crosse city buses for $75 a year. The university’s U-PASS contract with the La Crosse MTU will continue for 2015-16. Faculty and staff can purchase an MTU bus pass for unlimited rides on all MTU’s routes. Passes can be purchased by taking advantage of a pre-tax payroll deduction. Passes are available in the Cashier’s Office, 121 Graff Main Hall, and are valid Tuesday, Sept. 1 through Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016. The U-PASS program offers daily, unlimited, fare-free passage on all MTU routes for students. From fall 2000 through 2014, MTU buses have provided 2,036,451 U-PASS rides. The program is a joint effort by the UWL Student Association, UWL Administration and MTU. Reservations for classrooms for the fall semester must be made after the first week of the semester when the class schedule is finalized. The Reservations office will start accepting requests Monday, Sept. 14. Whitney Center has undergone extensive renovations this summer with new stations, layout and menu. When Whitney Center reopens in the fall new and healthy options will be available for the students to choose from including: vegetarian/vegan, salads, pizza/pasta/calzones, home-style meals, deli sandwiches and more. Construction is well underway on the new Badger Street Station, a convenience store in Whitney. It might not look like much right now, but it will be completed, polished and ready to go for students.What’s new in Cartwright
