UW-L Assistant Professor Richard Breaux, Ethnic and Racial Studies, is the master of ceremonies at the Monday, Jan. 19, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Celebration.
The celebration with featured speaker Ruby Bridges, the first African-American student to desegregate William Frantz Public School in New Orleans, begins at 7 p.m. in Viterbo University's Fine Arts Center Main Theatre, 929 Jackson St.
The event includes music performed by Viterbo University's music department, Praise Dance from the Prodigy of Life Ministries and the presentation of the MLK Leadership Award.

Chancellor to give All-University Address Jan. 21
Chancellor Joe Gow will give UW-L’s All-University Spring Address at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, in 260 Graff Main Hall Auditorium.Special Dells weekend getaway offered to UW-L alumni, friends
The Wilderness Resort is offering a Waterpark Weekend Fundraiser April 17-19. For $109.99 per night plus taxes and resort fees, a family of four can reserve a double queen room and unlimited access to the resort’s four waterparks and four-story interactive play park. Additional family members are $20 each. For every room night booked, the Alumni Association will receive $10.

News and upcoming events
- Women’s Basketball will play UW-Stevens Point 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14. Free admission for faculty and staff with UW-L ID.
- The Women’s and Men’s Track teams will host the Alumni/Intra-Squad Meet noon Saturday, Jan. 17.
- Men’s Basketball will play UW-Whitewater 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17. The first 100 in attendance will receive an Eagles cell phone case.
- Soccer’s 2015 High School Elite Camp is scheduled for Jan. 24. This one-day camp will introduce the participants to collegiate on-field training and off-field activities. High school players will be ready for the next step — college exploration. Click brochure for more information.
- The Winter 2015 Baseball Camps are scheduled for Feb. 7, 15, 22 and 28. Register now for the Youth Fundamentals Camp, Winter Hitting Camp, and/or the Winter Pitching/Catching and Infield Camp. Roger Haro, Eric Strauss, both Biology, and alumnus Robert Mooney, published the article “Nutrient recycling by caddisflies alleviates phosphorus limitation in case periphyton” in the December 2014 issue of the Freshwater Science Journal.
Jim Jorstad, Academic Technologies, presented "The Wizard of Oz — Strategies Behind the Curtain to Transform Your Communication" at the Council for Advancement and Support of Education District V Conference in Chicago Dec. 13-15.
