'Jeans Day' is Friday, June 26

Jeans Day artwork.UW-L is one of many local organizations that participates in “Jeans Day” each month and is sponsored by the La Crosse Tribune. In return for a $1 suggested donation, UW-L faculty and staff have the opportunity to wear jeans rather than usual business attire. Donations go to designated local, non-profit charities or organizations each month. The charities this month are United Fund for the Arts and La Crosse Area Family YMCA. Locate your building contact person on the list below, contribute the suggested $1 and collect a Jeans Day sticker. It is not necessary to wear jeans to participate. Independence Day holiday and office closures

Independence Day falls on a Saturday this year. All classified and academic staff on annual appointments will earn a floating holiday, which can be used anytime with supervisor approval. The university has a small number of classes scheduled and will need to remain open for business Friday, July 3. The university will be managing July 3 the same way as Thanksgiving Friday. The University Police Communication Center (switchboard) will be open 24/7 for customer service and campus safety. Other university offices may be closed if the work unit decides that all employees will take their floating holiday, vacation, or a personal day so the office can be closed. If such agreement is reached, the office will need to post a sign on the door and leave appropriate voice and email “out-of-office” messages for the public. A campus building will be closed and signed with a notice of closure if all work units in a building have elected to close their offices and there are no classes scheduled in the building. Ultimately it is the discretion of the dean, director or other supervisor in each area to determine the feasibility of closing a specific office.
