2015 Global Initiatives Week set for Nov. 6-13
Global Initiatives Week (GIW) is a week-long celebration of the Coulee Region’s global connections. It showcases the cultural, social and economic value of the community through activities such as dance, art, film, speakers and more.
Global Initiatives Week encourages individuals and organizations to become a community with a deep sense of global responsibility and engagement. Activities encourage global thinking through commerce, tourism, education, volunteerism, delegations, and cultural diversity within the region.
The end result of the week’s activities is for all participants to act locally by:
- Getting involved in global issues and partnerships
- Improving cultural competences to work with diverse populations
- Encouraging businesses to use information and tools to stay competitive in a global market
Anyone or any organization in the La Crosse region is welcome to plan, host, or participate in an event as part of the week’s celebration. There is no cost to promote an event.
If planning or hosting an event, add your event to the calendar via
www.explorelacrosse.com/global, or email the event listing to Brent Hanifl at
hanifl@explorelacrosse.com. The deadline to submit an event is
Sept. 18 to maximize promotion through press releases, the GIW calendar, media coverage and more. Each participating organization is responsible for distributing information to its contacts, creating fliers for promotion, and issuing press releases.
