Transgender Day of Remembrance planned for Nov. 21
Join the UW-L Pride Center and Rainbow Unity in remembering those who were killed due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice at Transgender Day of Remembrance Monday, Nov. 21. A gender panel will be held at 5 p.m. in the Pride Center, lower level Cartwright Center. At 6 p.m. a candlelight vigil will be held at Hoeschler Tower. With the holiday season approaching, several student organizations are promoting an alternative to holiday shopping — a Fair Trade Sale. The sale runs from 9 a.m-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, and 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, in Port O’ Call, Cartwright Center-Gunning Addition. Fair trade sales sell products that are 100-percent socially responsible. The certified products guarantee fair wages for workers, quality products, community development and sustainable environment. Fair trade products will be available from Terra Experience, Ten Thousand Villages, Heart of the Sky and Equal Exchange. Student organizers hope the event spreads awareness about the fair trade movement and how each purchase counts toward the welfare of others in impoverished countries. 'Open Stage/Open Mic/Open Minds' planned for Dec. 1

A UW-L Kitty Club annual holiday social is set for 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at Grizzly's Grill & Saloon, 3039 Medco Court (off Highway 16), Onalaska. Everyone will order off the menu and may pay dues at the restaurant before dinner. New members are welcome. The Kitty Club was established 66 years ago and hosts two annual events for current and retired classified female employees to meet one another and socialize together.
