'Wish Me Away' is featured Sept. 26 Queer Cinema film

Jeans Day is Friday, Sept. 28; wear your LIVEMAROON gear!
UW-L is one of many local organizations that participate in the monthly “Jeans Day” sponsored by the La Crosse Tribune. One or two local charities or organizations are designated each month to receive our donations. In return for a $1 (suggested donation) UW-L employees may wear jeans to work Friday, Sept. 28. You may contribute even if you don’t wear jeans. Let’s show our community how generous we can be!

Patient immobilization devices donated to UW-L
Dr. Mary Ellen Smajo, director of the Rosalind Franklin Physics program in Chicago, donated patient immobilization devices to UW-L this fall to use in health labs on campus. The devices will allow students to gain experience using them prior to their fieldwork. UW-L student Jing Gu
A memorial service was held for UW-L student Jing Gu Wednesday, Sept. 19, in the Strelczyk Great Hall in the Cleary Alumni & Friends Center. Gu was hit by a car Friday, Sept. 7, near the La Crosse and Oakland St. intersection and died Saturday, Sept. 8. Gu, a Chinese national, had been a UW-L student since fall 2009. She majored in finance and marketing. She worked with UW-L Dining Services and was active in UW-L's Chinese Student Organization. UW-L alumna and Track and Field Coach Ashton May
UW-L alumna and Assistant Track and Field Coach Ashton May died Sept. 16 after her car struck a semi truck. May graduated from UW-L in 2010. In her senior year she was named the WIAC Judy Kruckman Indoor Track & Field Scholar-Athlete. Ashton also earned 10 NCAA All-American Awards and established several UW-L outdoor and indoor records in relay running and the long jump. Ashton had been an assistant track coach at UW-L for close to three years. Services were held Saturday, Sept. 22, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams.
