Panama Soweto and Ken Arkind are a high-energy pair of slam poets who blend complex voice work, comedy and emotionally-charged poetry into their performances. Whether it’s through the nostalgia of playing “Street Fighter” or their take on politics and racism, their combination of pop culture and social issues sparks both laughter and reflection about important contemporary issues.
They were a part of the National Poetry Slam Championship team in 2006 and have been the nation’s most booked poetry slam group for four years. They have been featured in the documentaries SPIT! and Slamplanet, and have performed at more than 70 university campuses nationwide.
Dynamic Duo’s performance is part of the Campus Activities Board Series. Admission is free. For more about the pair, visit sonicbids.com/band/thedynamicduo/. For more information about their visit see uwlax.edu/CAB or call 608.785.8873.
