'Fast Food Nation' author to speak at UW-La Crosse

The author who wrote the international best-selling book “Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All American Meal” is coming to UW-La Crosse.

"]Eric Schlosser photo.[/caption] The author who wrote the international best-selling book “Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All American Meal” is coming to UW-La Crosse. Eric Schlosser will speak at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, in the Recreational Eagle Center. Schlosser began working as a correspondent for the Atlantic Monthly in 1996. After graduating from Princeton with a degree in American history, he tried several professions (playwright, novelist, script writer) before turning to non-fiction in his early 30s. What began as a simple magazine article turned into an international best-seller, “Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All American Meal.” The book was on the New York Times bestsellers list for nearly two years. It appeared on the bestseller lists of the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Boston Globe, the Washington Post, USA Today, Business Week, and Publishers Weekly, as well as on bestseller lists in Canada, Great Britain and Japan. Tickets in advance are $4 for UW-L students, $10 for UW-L employees and $12 for others. All tickets increase $2 on the day of the show.
