When Alumna Tammy Zee found out UW-La Crosse classes were moving online for the remainder of the spring semester, the UWL Recreational Sports instructor of 33 years found a way to stay connected to her fitness class.
Zee captures video of herself in her living room or garage doing yoga, meditation, cardio and a variety of other fitness routines, and broadcasts them live on Facebook. During the sessions, occasionally a dog will bark or the doorbell will ring, but that’s the norm for everyone in the world of telework and school, she explains.

“We’ve all had to learn new things and adapt to the new norm,” she says. “I have learned to keep it real, and the rawer, the better.”
Zee says the classes can help students stay on schedule and maintain their health and wellness. Most importantly, it helps bring a bit of normalcy back into their life.
