Hair Encore Performance and Scholarship Fundraiser set for September.
Hair Encore Performance and Scholarship Fundraiser
The UW-La Crosse Department of Theatre Arts proudly presents the encore performance of "Hair: The American Tribal-Love Rock Musical" to raise funds for UW-La Crosse Theatre student scholarships. Hair will let the sunshine in this summer at the UW-La Crosse Toland Theatre. Restring your love beads, patch up your bell bottoms and join the revolution on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 9 at 2:00 p.m. All performances will be in the Toland Theatre, Center for the Arts, located on the corner of 16th and Vine Streets. The Tony Award winning musical Hair is the original 1960s rock opera, embodying the fun, wild, free-spirited energy of the “Age of Aquarius.” Hair brings to life a “tribe” of politically active, bohemian hippies in New York City protesting against the Vietnam War. Claude, his good friend Berger, their roommate Sheila and their friends struggle to balance their young lives, loves and the sexual revolution with their pacifist rebellion against the war and the conservative impulses of their parents and society. Will Claude be forced into serving his country in a war he despises, or will peace, love, and rock and roll rule? Tickets for Hair go on sale online beginning Wednesday, Aug. 29. In person/phone orders begin Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 1:00 p.m. with box office hours Monday through Friday from 1:00-4:30 p.m. and one hour prior to each performance.
