“The career management skills that PeopleFirst’s programs impart are critical to success in today’s business world and an integral part of lifelong learning for UW-L’s alumni,” says Mary Hericks, ’81, a managing partner of PeopleFirst HR Solutions.
Marlin Helgeson, ’78, and Gary Schettle, ’74, both past presidents of the UW-L Alumni Association Board of Directors, came up with the idea to add this new member benefit in 2013 when they joined PeopleFirst.
“We discussed the benefits of being a member of the UW-L Alumni Association and the need to enhance the benefit offerings,” says Helgeson. “One specific area that was repeatedly explored was to find a support system for alums who were in transition or considering a career change.”
The idea was presented to the Alumni Association, and after the board approved, PeopleFirst’s services were added as one of many benefits of membership in fall 2014.
