Anyone looking to learn the latest science news while enjoying the relaxing atmosphere of a local café is welcome to join UWL faculty members for the next science café at Java Vino.
UWL Biology Professor Greg Sandland will present his research on an invasive parasite that kills thousands of migrating waterfowl on the Mississippi River every year. His talk will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at Java Vino, 2311 State Road, in La Crosse. Sandland will discuss the impact the parasite is having on the Mississippi River ecosystem and what can be done to stop it.
Monthly science cafes feature UWL faculty and other scientists who lead a discussion for the public on scientific topics of general interest. It is the brainchild of three UWL Chemistry & Biochemistry Department faculty members: Nadia Carmosini, Basu Battacharyya and Ben Haenni.
