Author and self-proclaimed environmentalist Colin Beavan speaks at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, in Valhalla, Cartwright Center-Gunning Addition.
In 2006, Beavan and his family used no automated transportation, electricity, non-local food or material consumption. The experiment became the subject of an award-wining blog, noimpactman.com (one of Time Magazine's Top 15 environmental blogs), and a book, “No Impact Man: The Adventures of a Guilty Liberal Who Attempts to Save the Planet.” Find out more at http://www.colinbeavan.com/.
The lecture is part of the university’s common reading program and the Campus Activities Board series. Tickets in advance are free for UW-L students, $3 other students and UW-L employees, and $6 for others.
