UWL hosted a ceremonial groundbreaking event for the new Science Labs Building.
Aaron Monte, Chemistry & Biochemistry, spoke on behalf of the faculty about the importance of the space in the new Science Labs Building for faculty and students. Monte said in 1966 the Cowley Hall of Science supported 56 instructional faculty. Today, most departments have tripled in size, leading to 147 total faculty crammed into the building. Student enrollment has more than doubled from 4,514 to 10,546, with much of that growth occurring within what is now the College of Science & Health.[/caption]
