Newly enrolled students from Richland County this fall will be able to attend UW-La Crosse for the same tuition they would have paid at the Richland Center campus.

UWL to offer tuition reduction for Richland students

Students from Richland County will be able to attend UW-La Crosse for the same tuition they would have paid at UW-Platteville Richland in Richland Center.

The reduced tuition will save Richland County students $1,505 a semester for the 2023-24 academic year as they work toward their associate degree.

With in-person, degree-bearing courses at UW-Platteville Richland set to end this July, UWL Chancellor Joe Gow says Richland Center students reached out for assistance during a recent Board of Regents meeting. He offered to help them pursue their educational dreams. While UWL cannot financially support classes at the Richland campus, the university is eager to help Richland students complete their associate's and bachelor’s degrees.

All newly enrolled undergraduate degree-seeking Richland County residents to UWL with less than 60 college credits earned will pay the discounted tuition rate. Upon completion of 60 credits, traditional UWL undergraduate tuition and fees will be assessed for further study at UWL.

The tuition rate begins in fall 2023 for newly enrolled students. Currently enrolled students are not eligible.

“We’re eager to assist students from Richland County who are looking to continue their education,” says Gow.

“Our admissions counselors are enthusiastic to make their transfer to UWL as seamless as possible.”

UWL Admissions staff welcomed students from the Richland campus in February to provide personal credit evaluations and answer transfer admission questions, along with providing a tour. That was followed up in April with UWL staff traveling to Richland for a transfer fair.
