Activities set April 8-11
The 2nd Annual UW-La Crosse Philanthropy Week will be held Monday-Thursday, April 8-11, to celebrate donors and inspire philanthropy.
The UWL Student Philanthropy Council plans and hosts the week-long celebration that includes daily events at the Student Union, Hoeschler Tower and other displays around campus.
"The goal of Philanthropy Week is to encourage a lifelong philanthropic spirit among our future alumni," says Chantel Weyrauch, Student Philanthropy Council president. "We want students to realize that donors help make their UWL experience possible."
Highlights of the week include:
• A flag display outside the Student Union that represents the number of UWL students who received a scholarship last year — more than 900 — thanks to generous donors.
• Penny Wars among campus departments to raise awareness about the power of small gifts and the areas of campus that benefit from philanthropy.
• Faculty speaking in their classes about why giving back to UWL is important to them.
• Daily opportunities to learn about philanthropy at UWL, win prizes and enjoy snacks.
