The 28th annual Big Band Cabaret is Saturday, Feb. 14.
The 17-piece UW-L Tuxedo Dance Orchestra will recreate the sights and sounds of the swing era during the 28th annual Big Band Cabaret.
The orchestra, directed by UW-L faculty member Karyn Quinn, will play the sounds of Glenn Miller, Les Brown, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey and more at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, in Valhalla, Cartwright Center-Gunning Addition.
Joining the Tuxedo Big Band will be the UW-La Crosse Eagle Big Band and featured guest artist, Mike Caucutt, singing Louis Armstrong's hit tunes. Among the selections performed will be “What A Wonderful World,” “Hello Dolly,” and “St. James Infirmary Blues.”
Caucutt, a mass communications/speech graduate of UW-L, has been playing music in the La Crosse area for 30 years. He is known for his performances with his classic rock band, Mr. Blink, at downtown bars, as well as a regular at Oktoberfest, the Westby Ski Jump and other area performances. Caucutt will make his return to the Valhalla stage where he last played in 1990 opening for the BoDeans.
Tickets are $10 for students, $14 for senior citizens and $15 for others. Those wishing to support the UW-L jazz program may purchase patron tickets for $30. All proceeds from the concert will support the UW-L jazz program.
The concert is cabaret style seating at tables; beverage service will be available. A dance floor will be set. For reservations or ticket information, call the UW-L Music Department at 608.785.8415. Tickets will also be available at the door.
