Students receive course credit and benefit from exploring issues from a variety of viewpoints in UW-L's summer 2011 Study Tour in Ireland.
[/caption]Three university departments have teamed up for UW-L's summer 2011 Study Tour in Ireland. Casey Tobin, Psychology, is teaching Psy 305, Human Sexuality; Keely Rees, Health Education/Health Promotion, is teaching HED 412, Women's Health Issues; and Sandi Krajewski, Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies, is teaching WGS 320, Violence Against Women.
Students receive course credit and benefit from exploring issues from a variety of viewpoints.
Coursework includes visiting rape crisis centers in Galway and Waterside; and a presentation from a women's shelter on their services, laws in Ireland and public policy around domestic violence. In Dublin, the group visited Pavee Point — a kind of Salvation Army for Travellers (Irish gypsies) and marched in Dublin's Gay Pride Parade.
