UWL grad students have just three minutes to present their research
UW-La Crosse graduate students will distill the complexities of their academic research into only a three-minute explanation at the annual 3-Minute Thesis event at UW-La Crosse.
The event will be from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, in Skogen Auditorium A., 1400 Centennial Hall. It is free and open to the public. A reception honoring the winners will follow in the Hall of Nations, 1300 Centennial Hall.
A countdown timer will keep competitors on their toes, and a panel of judges from UWL and the La Crosse community will select a winner and two runners-up. The audience will select the People's Choice award winner. All winning students will receive a scholarship.
The event highlights the diversity of UWL’s graduate programs. UWL offers more than 30 graduate degrees and certificates in areas from science to health and wellness to business and management. Offerings include on-campus programs and online and hybrid programs. Learn more about UWL graduate school programs.
About 3MT
The idea for the now worldwide 3-Minute Thesis competition started at the University of Queensland in 2008 when the state of Queensland was suffering severe drought. Residents were encouraged to time their showers to conserve water. Many used a three-minute egg timer and the dean of the university’s graduate school put the two together to create the first competition. 3MT events are now in more than 600 universities across more than 65 countries worldwide.
