Feb. 22 event connects UWL students, local companies

La Crosse area businesses can network with UW-La Crosse business students during the 2023 Take an Eagle to Breakfast.

The networking opportunity that connects College of Business Administration students with local employers is sponsored by the UWL Silver Eagles, an alumni group.

The event runs from 7:30-9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, in the Strzelczyk Great Hall, Cleary Alumni & Friends Center. The breakfast is being held in conjunction with the UWL Spring Career & Internship Fair held later in the day in the UWL Student Union.

“This event joins present employers with UWL’s best and brightest students, providing the opportunity to discuss future internship or employment opportunities in a less formal environment,” says Joe Chilsen, president of the Silver Eagles. “Students who participate in this event have the opportunity to open doors to their futures, and I am hopeful they will take full advantage.”

Chilsen says Take an Eagle to Breakfast can help businesses identify and ultimately hire young, skilled workers at a time when employers are struggling with hiring.

Businesses can participate by becoming an Eagle, Maroon or Gray sponsor, which also gives the business increased visibility. Space is limited and early registration is encouraged.

Proceeds from the event will go to the Silver Eagles Endowment Scholarship Fund, which has provided 54 scholarships totaling nearly $50,000 over the past 20 years.
