Janie Morgan retires after 26 years serving alumni and friends
It’s all about relationships.
Over the past 26 years, I have met hundreds if not thousands of UWL alumni. I have loved meeting you and hearing your stories. The one thing we all have in common is this place, this campus. We share a unique bond which is “The La Crosse experience.”
I have been proud to represent UWL in the La Crosse community and throughout the country. So often, I would introduce myself by saying, “Hi! I’m Janie Morgan from UWL.” So much of my identity came from my work at the Alumni Association. As I begin my retirement, I will always be proud of my education and my career at UWL.
Collectively, we grew the UWL Alumni Association from a small shop in 1998 to a comprehensive organization supporting the entire university. I am proud that our alumni, faculty and staff trusted the Alumni Association — that they knew we would follow through and get things done. Our goal was to serve the entire campus and all our alumni. I hope we accomplished that goal.
Last summer, the Alumni Association aligned with the Foundation to create the UWL Alumni & Friends Foundation. I believe the new organization will not only continue its commitment to serving the campus and our alumni and friends, but will take it to new heights.
I will miss you all, but I promise to continue to cheer you on, just from a different chair. In retirement, I want to spend more time with my wonderful friends and family, my fiancé, Joe, and the grandkids. And, of course, there will be more opportunities for our hobbies: travel, pickleball and golf!
Forever #UWL PROUD!
Janie Morgan
